Education & Working Background

Hi, my name is Calvin, I am a Game Designer & Producer. I have recently graduated with a first degree in game design and have experience working as a Producer at Criterion games EA (famous for Need for Speed and the Burnout series). I have skills in using blueprints in Unreal Engine 5, Level Design, Narratology, Game documentation, 3D modelling and texture work as well as my newly acquired skills in AAA Production. I am currently working on my own personal projects and am a part of a BAFTA scholarship being mentored in level design by a level designer from Ubisoft. I’m excited to contribute and am open to game design roles within the gaming industry.

Why the gaming industry?

From an early age I was always fascinated with videogames. I have fond memories playing the early Sonic games and Mario on the NES. As I grew older the PlayStation was released and this is where gaming turned into a passion for me. I have a deep connection to games such as Tomb Raider, Crash, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy and many more.

Games changed my life. I will always remember being whisked away from any worries or troubles I had when playing Final Fantasy IX for example. When playing this game I was transported into a fantastical beautiful world full of wonder and mystery, the music, characters, environments, narrative and strategic gameplay completely blew me away and sent my imagination to another level (no pun intended). If I could create a game that could connect with and help someone in the same way that these games helped me, then I would have accomplished my life’s goal.
